I just had an idea for a Lindon-based Nobel Prize competition.
Take some time to think about it, and just nominate samebody for as many prizes as you can. Some will just have to be equivalents - I've used all the modern day ones along with my own inventions.
Eligible for nomination are all elves and a select few particular elf friends, like Bilbo. These are the categories.
Bravery, Strategy, Charisma, Chemistry, Physics, Medicine, Literature, Peace and Economics.
My nominations: Fingolfin (bravery), Gil-galad (strategy), Feanor (charisma), Celebrimbor (chemistry), Elrond (Medicine), Bilbo (literature).

Please go ahead. All nominations are open to discussion and change. The current score tally is:

LINDON Nobel Prize competition

Bravery - Beren (1), Fingolfin (2), Turin Turambar (1)
Strategy - Gil-galad (1)
Charisma - Feanor (1)
Chemistry - Celebrimbor (2)
Physics -
Medicine - Elrond (2)
Literature - Bilbo (1), Rumil (2)
Peace - Earendil (1), Finarfin (1)
Economics -

some more suggestions:

Bravery: although Fingolfin is a good choice, i would rather prefer Beren (he is of the race of men of course, but elf-friend like nearly noone else i would say)

Literature: as you know i like elvish language and especially writing i would put Rúmil here first (the inventor of the first elvish writing system called "sarati") - there would be no books without him .

For Peace, I would nominate Finarfin (though he did not take part in the wars of Beleriand.)

For Bravery, I also think Turin Turambar is a good addition.

I can't name someone for Physics, but whoever made the first ships can count, due to the physics problems they had to solve in obtaining flotation. Their invention was of great use in exploring Arda.

By the way. Make sure you let me know if you concur with a nomination so I can give two votes.

I'm not sure this is what you asked, Aeglos, but if I gather correctly, we are to state if we agree to any of those already posted. So I concur with Fingolfin for bravery, and Rúmil for literature.

Concurring votes would be Elrond (medicine) and Celebrimbor (chemistry)

That is what I meant, though you now have conflicting votes for bravery, John. however I shall record them both.

Oh, so I had to name only one person per category! Well, I'd go for Fingolfin, but neither can I cast Turin aside, since it was me who first proposed him. So I guess it's best to do it like this, leaving multiple votes from the same person and seeing who 'wins' in the end.
