Post your poems here! Here are some of mine. I'm not the best of poets, as you can see Sunrise Comes As sunrise comes, The birds, they call, The sun comes out, A glowing ball. The air is still, A frozen lake, And all around, Begin to wake. Dew-drops glisten Upon the ground, Creatures come out, Without a sound. The sky above Turns silvery-grey, And every soul Welcomes the day. ___________________ Only When all around turns grey and bad, Forget the things that make you sad, It will be just then, you will see, The only thing you need is me. ____________________ Was feeling lazy so I wrote some couplets: Blue and Green The most menacing thing I've ever seen, The sea and it's glorious blue and green. _____________________ Worth The While Sunshine, memories, a great big smile, Yes, that's what makes life worth the while. _____________________ Words With words I live, With words I breathe. From longest stream, To smallest leaf. With words I live, With words I see. Without my words, I am not me. With words I live, With words I fly. With words I'm born, With words I'll die. ____________________ Another one: The Library The printed words of a man long dead, The musty old pages being read. Between covers, they tell tales of old, Books of villains and castles of gold. Though not of this world are those stories, Of dragon-slayers and their glories. Some tell of the stars and of the moon, And yet others tell of certain doom. While all are different, yet the same, Their titles are printed on the brain. Through the library's door we must look, To find the object, it is a book! ________________________ What do you think?? Lacho calad! Drego morn!

what can I say? I'm not a good poetry critic, and I don't read that much poetry to know really good ones from those that only have nice-sounding rhymes. However, I like the ending of your first poem, "every soul / Welcomes the day.", which is quite impressive. In the second poem, I'd rather have "It will be then that you will see" instead of "It will be just then, you will see". It is easier to speak and flows better. Of course, you may want to convey a different feeling and so prefer the second. 'Words' is also nice.

Great poems, Ranger! Here is one which I had to compose in my exam - it went on the bulletin board on the school, ha! - Things I Like Dewdrops on roses, the colours of the rainbow, When school closes, the moon that shines low The rustle of the leaves, a pop song's melody, The home a weaver bird weaves and magnolia trees, The song a nightingale whistles, the wind on my face The bells that jingle, and daffodils that we gaze, The laugh of a child, the summit of the hills Presents in a pile, while light over Earth fills; Lotuses on a river, going on a hike, Streams that flow like silver, these are some things that I like. I have other poems, but I don't remember them. I'll check and I'll post next time. :)

Here's another one; we had to compose individually in class: Hope Ever the night seems to be falling Ever the darkness seems to be calling I see an evening star up yonder - It shines, and I wonder. Ever my dreams seem to fade Ever my wishes seem unmade I see a light in the distance As though through a mist is thrown a lance. Ever sadness invades my day Ever loneliness pervades my way I see a hope on the horizon - It's the sun that has risen. That's all for now.

good one!
When the cold of winter comes Starless night will cover day In the veiling of the sun We will walk in bitter rain
But in dreams I still hear your name And in dreams We will meet again
When the seas and mountains fall And we come, to end of days In the dark I hear a call Calling me there And back again

Not bad everybody... I'm affraid I've only written poems, or somethings that are supposed to be poems, at times when I was depressed, so everything is not that pleasant... It's only when I'm sad I have words, when I'm happy I dance :D
This is one I started working on years ago, when I had drawn a rose on a peace of paper. I'm not sure it's finnished yet:
“A beautiful death” “A rose in my garden I saw So cold and so bright As it stood there in the night
This was to be My last beautiful sight For I was fading away Away from the beauty Away from this world Fading into darkness”
(Don't worry, there's no actual truth in that...)
"If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world." - JRR Tolkien
"Too bright were the eyes of Arien for even the Eldar to look on, and leaving Valinor she forsook the form and raiment which like the Valar she had worn there, and she was as a naked flame, terrible in the fullness of her splendour."

Arien, is it "fating" or "fading"? Either way, it's very good! A little sad though, when you think about it ...

Star is right, it should be "fading." It should also be "This was to be." Despite that, it's very good indeed!

Oh, yeah. I always overlook mistakes like that... But thanks for the comments.

Sorry, I'm a bit of a perfectionist sometimes, so I tend to notice stuff like that. It is very good though, especially considering English isn't your native language.

I'll try another one. Loneliness Like a dream that's not dreamt Like a promise that just not meant. Like a song that's not sung Like a life that hasn't begun. Like a fire that will not burn Like the world that just won't turn. Like a sentence with no sense Like a jungle that's just not dense. Like a poem that does not rhyme Like a clock that shows not time. Like silence that cannot be still Like a way without a will. Like someone standing alone With nowhere to turn to for home. That's all I remember, though that's not the original. I'll check and post again!

this one is the best up till now. Good job Star! the words are very expressive. just one tiny mistake instead of 'shoes' you should put 'shows'...but the meaning is still clear anyway :)
When the cold of winter comes Starless night will cover day In the veiling of the sun We will walk in bitter rain
But in dreams I still hear your name And in dreams We will meet again
When the seas and mountains fall And we come, to end of days In the dark I hear a call Calling me there And back again

ok this is a prose poem I made in honor of Turin son of Hurin. It was inspired by his name 'Thurin'.
The Secret
Thurin, Thurin O secret within a secret! Thus Finduilas of Nargothrond named you and though you denied it your ever-beating heart knew it was true; you were a secret, O son of Hurin and Morwen, lord of Dor-lomin! O secret amidst a world of turmoil and hate. O man disguised in identity and name for fear of encountering you Destiny, yet never in fear of revealing your heart's wishes. O secret shining like a star in death-like eyes. O secret kept from others and a burden upon your own self. Thurin, Thurin son of Sorrow no man had to bear such a disheartening fate except for you! And though you desired to flee from it your ever-wandering feet always led you to it. Thurin! O secret held in the steel of a sword, in the rays of the sun, in the soil of the Earth from whence you came, how long will you continue to bear that which you were cursed by? Do you revel in the bitter cold of the winter or have you come to desire the warmth of the sun once again? Thurin, O secret of the wilderness enclosed in the hands of Nellas, captured in the red seregon mantling the head of Amon Rudh, your journey is long and your Destiny is darker than the Edge of the Night.
So what do you think everyone?
When the cold of winter comes Starless night will cover day In the veiling of the sun We will walk in bitter rain
But in dreams I still hear your name And in dreams We will meet again
When the seas and mountains fall And we come, to end of days In the dark I hear a call Calling me there And back again
