I think there used to be a "General News" thing before, but I couldn't find it, so I thought to start it again. So, I'll go first: I'm now in Katmandu, Nepal!

What's Nepal like? I believe the Himalayas are up there, have you had a look at them?

Wow! Nepal is one of my favourite countries, I was in Kathmandu back in 93 for 2 months. Patan and Bhaktapur are also great places and quite nearby. Do you know if the Everest steak house still exists? I'm jealous!

I love Nepal too! Spend a month in Kathmandu and Pokhara in 1996. I really want to go back some day. You should go treking... Wen't for a 4 day treking tour in the Himalayas and I loved it! It's a perfect way to see the country, meet some of the people who don't meet tourists every day. It's just beautiful... I miss it.
What are you doing in Nepal, Star??

I'll answer your question, first, Aeglos. Nepal is a beautiful country, with lots of friendly people. The mountains overlook the city, all veiled in mist. And I just arrived - well, it's two days now - so, no, not yet. I'll post when I have! Sorry, Mearc, I haven't seen that yet, though I will! Yes, Arien, I am also going trekking! (Not yet, though, Dad's real busy for the time being) but I will! What am I doing, Arien? I'm just here to visit my father, who was assigned here (he works at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs). And in doing so, I'm just touring a bit. I've just returned from an Embassy dinner!

I know that there are some 'mountains' (really hills in disguise, there are no real mountains in Australia) outside Melbourne which look slightly impressive, I can only imagine if they were twenty times taller...

They are pretty tall, and mystical. And they are really impressive! They're far more impressive than the mountains I saw on my excursion to Kalaw, and Inlay! (Those are places in Myanmar.)

I got a bus from Varanasi in India to Kathmandu and it was such a cool ride we were even allowed to sit on the bags on the roof! There were some hairy moments though! Oh yeah I remember the name of the place I stayed in Kathmandu was named Cosy Corner. Do they still have regular power outs? Used to happen every night at around the ssame time.

Yes, they do, actually, but it's getting better. Improving! Oulmo, hope you do get to Japan!

Ehmm... I dyed my hair. I'm now officially not qualifyed to be an elf. There's too much brown in it. And I've got 9½ days of school left, until the exams begin. *Jumping mentally up and down* Am in class right now, so I'll do the real jumping outside... Otherwise I can't really think of any news that would interest anybody here. Not that the other things I wrote are interesting hehe...
